Eric Monmasson

Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Open Journal of the Industrial Electronics Society – term 2026-2028 

Eric Monmasson (M’96–SM’06) received the Ing. and Ph.D. degrees from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Ingénieurs d’Electrotechnique d’Electronique d’Informatique et d’Hydraulique de Toulouse, Toulouse, France, in 1989 and 1993, respectively. Since 2003, he is a Full Professor at CY Cergy Paris University, Cergy-Pontoise, France. He is also the Head of the Systèmes et Applications des Technologies de l’Information et de l’Energie Laboratory (SATIE, UMR CNRS 8029). He is the author or coauthor of 3 books and more than 300 scientific papers. His current research interests include the control of power electronics, electrical motors and generators, and FPGA-based and SoC-based industrial control systems. Dr. Monmasson was the Chair of the technical committee on Electronic Systems-on-Chip of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society from 2008 to 2011. He was the Chair of the ELECTRIMACS technical committee of the International Association for Mathematics and Computers in Simulation (2011-2017). He is an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics and IEEE Magazine of Industrial Electronics, of which he was also Editor-in-Chief (2022-2024).

 

Hasan Komurcugil

Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Industrial Electronics – term 2026-2028

Hasan Komurcugil (Senior Member, IEEE) received the B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Eastern Mediterranean University, Famagusta, North Cyprus (via Mersin 10, Turkey), in 1989, 1991, and 1998, respectively. He is currently a full-time Professor at Eastern Mediterranean University. From 2004 to 2010, he served as the Head of the Computer Engineering Department. In 2010, he played an active role in preparing the department’s first self-study report for the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). In the same year, he was elected as a Board Member of the Higher Education Planning, Evaluation, Accreditation and Coordination Council in North Cyprus. From 2010 to 2019, he actively participated in the evaluation of universities in North Cyprus.
In 2022, he visited Texas A&M University at Qatar as an Associate Research Scientist in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Program. His research interests include power electronics and innovative control methods for power converters, such as sliding mode control, Lyapunov-based control, and model predictive control. He has co-authored 79 papers in high-impact journals, over 90 papers in peer-reviewed international conferences, two books and one book chapter. In 2025, he received the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics Outstanding Associate Editor Award in recognition of his dedicated service. He was also the recipient of best presentation recognitions at the 41st and 42nd Annual Conferences of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IECON) in 2015 and 2016, respectively.
He is a member of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES) and a Senior Member of IEEE. He has served as Corresponding Guest Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, Guest Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, and Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics. He currently serves as an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics and as the Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Industrial Electronics.

 

Xinkai Chen

Co-Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics – term 2026-2028

Xinkai Chen (Fellow, IEEE) received the Ph.D. degree in engineering from Nagoya University, Nagoya, Japan, in 1999. He is a Professor with the College of Systems Engineering and Science, Shibaura Institute of Technology, Japan. His research interests include adaptive control, smart materials, hysteresis, sliding-mode control, machine vision, observer, and the related mechatronic applications.
Prof. Chen has served as Senior Editor of IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics, Associate Editor for several journals, including IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology, IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, European Journal of Control, etc. He has also served for international conferences as organizing committee members, including the Program Chairs and Program Co-Chairs.

 

Michael Basin

Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Transaction on Industrial Informatics – term 2026-2028

Michael V. Basin (F’26, SM’07, M’95) received his Ph.D. degree in Physical and Mathematical Sciences with a major in Automatic Control and System Analysis from Moscow Aviation University (MAI) in 1992. He is currently Full Professor with Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon, Mexico, and Distinguished Professor with Ningbo University of Technology, Ningbo, Zhejiang, China. Starting from 1992, Dr. Basin published more than 400 research papers in international refereed journals and conference proceedings. He is the author of the monograph “New Trends in Optimal Filtering and Control for Polynomial and Time-Delay Systems,” published by Springer. His works are cited more than 9500 times (h index = 52). Dr. Basin has supervised 17 doctoral and 10 master’s theses. He has served as the Editor/Co-Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics and Journal of The Franklin Institute, Senior Editor of IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man and Cybernetics: Systems and IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics, an Associate Editor of Automatica, Neural Networks, International Journal of Systems Science, IET-Control Theory and Applications. Dr. Basin is an IEEE Fellow; he was awarded a title of Highly Cited Researcher by Thomson Reuters, the publisher of Science Citation Index, in 2009; he has received the Kimura Best Paper Award 2022 from the Asian Control Association; he is a regular member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences, and placed at 30,287 in the Stanford 2% list. Prof. Basin has been honored as a Fellow of Prominent Talent (Qian Ren) Program of Zhejiang Province, China. His research interests include variable structure systems and sliding mode control, fully actuated systems, nonlinear and robust control, stochastic systems, and applications to mechatronic, robotic, aerospace, and transportation systems.

 

Yang Tang

Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Transaction on Industrial Informatics – term 2026-2028

Yang Tang (Fellow, IEEE) received the B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Donghua University, Shanghai, China, in 2006 and 2010, respectively. From 2008 to 2010, he was a Research Associate with The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong. From 2011 to 2015, he was a Post-Doctoral Researcher with the Humboldt University of Berlin, Berlin, Germany, and with the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, Potsdam, Germany. He is now a Full Professor with the East China University of Science and Technology, Shanghai, China. His research interests contain several important areas in control, signal processing, robotics, mechatronics, optimization, artificial intelligence, diagnosis and monitoring, industrial informatics, complex systems, embodied intelligence, and cyber-physical systems.
Prof. Tang is an IEEE Fellow and the Fellow of Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association (AAIA). He was a recipient of the Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship. He is a Co-Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, an Senior Area Editor of IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems-I: Regular Papers (IEEE TCAS-I), Senior Editorial Board Member of Scientific Reports, Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems (IEEE TNNLS), IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics (IEEE TCYB), IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics (IEEE TII), IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics (IEEE/ASME TMECH), IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems-I: Regular Papers (IEEE TCAS-I), IEEE Transactions on Cognitive and Developmental Systems (IEEE TCDS), IEEE Transactions on Emerging Topics in Computational Intelligence (IEEE TETCI), IEEE Systems Journal (IEEE SYST J), Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence (IFAC Journal), Science China Information Sciences, Science China Technological Sciences and Acta Automatica Sinica, etc. He has an h-index of 71 in Google Scholar with 19,000+ citations. He is a (leading) guest editor for several special issues focusing on control and signal processing, robotics and mechatronics, diagnosis and monitoring, complex systems, and industrial electronics in IEEE Transactions.
