Call for Nominations – 2026 IEEE Industrial Electronics Society Awards
The Awards and Honors Committee (A&H Committee) of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES) seeks nominations for all Society awards, which recognize technical contributions as well as professional service to the IES community. Awards recognize contributions across a wide spectrum of IES activities, including chapter activities, international conferences, and publications. IES awards recognize all persons, including students, early career professionals, and those with lifetime achievements, from all geographical areas of the world. A&H Committee especially seeks nominations of under-represented peoples.

Following guidance from IEEE in applying IEEE Policy 4.4H, all IES AdCom members (voting and non-voting) are ineligible to receive, act as a nominator, or provide a reference for any IES award.
IEEE Policies 4.4 H.
Eligibility and Process Limitations. Individuals serving on any board or committee involved at any stage of the recipient selection or approval process for an award shall be ineligible to receive, or act as a nominator or reference for that award. This conflict of interest limitation shall apply to all awards given by the IEEE or any of its organizational units.

Dr.-Ing. Eugene Mittelmann Achievement Award
To recognize outstanding contributions to the field of Industrial Electronics.
Eligibility: Must be a member of IES.
Basis for Judging: May be given for a single major accomplishment or for a career of recognized achievements. The award is not necessarily given yearly: awarded only when suitable candidates can be identified.
Prize: US$6,000 and Award certificate.
Anthony J. Hornfeck Service Awards
To recognize outstanding, meritorious services to the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society.
Eligibility: Must be a member of IES.
Basis for Judging: For exceptional service to the Industrial Electronics Society. The award is not necessarily given yearly, only when a suitable candidate can be identified.
Prize: US$4,000 and Award certificate.
IEEE J. David Irwin Early Career Award
To recognize a young researcher who has made significant contributions to the advancement of the field of industrial electronics.
Eligibility: Must be a member of IES who, on the date of nomination, is within his/her first 10 years of professional experience from the date of his/her last academic degree.
Basis for Judging: The award is selected based on the technical importance of the contribution, subject matter, originality, and prospects for future success. Awarded only when suitable candidates are identified. Not necessarily awarded yearly.
Prize: US$2,000 and Award Certificate, and travel support to attend the award ceremony limited to US$3,000.
IEEE Bimal Bose Award for Industrial Electronics Applications in Energy Systems
To recognize a young researcher who has made significant contributions to the advancement of energy systems through industrial electronics applications.
Eligibility: Must be a member of IES who, on the date of nomination, is within his/her 25 years of professional experience from the date of his/her last academic degree.
Basis for Judging: The award is given based on the technical importance of the contribution, originality, and future prospects with an emphasis on applications to power electronics and energy systems in the field of industrial electronics. The award is not necessarily given yearly: awarded only when suitable candidates can be identified.
Prize: US$3,000 and Award certificate, and travel support to attend the award ceremony limited to US$2,000.
IEEE Rudolf Chope Research & Development Award
To recognize distinguished research and development accomplishments in quantum and industrial electronics and for industrial electrical engineering.
Eligibility: Must be a member of IES.
Basis for Judging: The prize individual will be selected by the Award Committee for his distinguished R&D achievement in industrial and/or quantum electronics.
Prize: US$1,000 and Award certificate. Multiple recipients will divide the prize.
