The IEEE Journal of Microelectromechanical Systems (JMEMS) was established in 1992 and has blossomed into the leading publication in the field of MEMS and MEMS technology. JMEMS publishes original and significant contributions describing advances in the field including theory, modeling, design, fabrication, assembly and packaging, performance characterization and reliability of microelectromechanical systems.

The journal publishes original papers, letters and review papers containing experimental data, verifying theory or model/simulation‐based new concepts. Original contributions are solicited from all sub‐fields of MEMS, and in topical focus areas which are continuously introduced and highlighted. IEEE JMEMS is co‐sponsored by the Electron Devices Society, Robotics and Automation Society and Industrial Electronics Society.

Nominations are invited for the position of Editor‐in‐Chief (EiC) for J‐MEMS for a 3‐year term beginning in July 2026. The EiC’s duties include hand‐picking Editors to serve across the scope of the journal; supervising its operations through IEEE ScholarOne with assistance from IEEE publications staff; monitoring manuscript length commensurate with technical quality, publications time, page budget and fiscal health, and participating in IEEE Periodical review. The expectation is to lead the publication to a higher level of excellence in terms of impact factor and other quality metrics. All publication travel will be supported by the sponsors.

Criteria for the Nominees:

  • Able and motivated to spend sufficient time to execute the EIC responsibility
  • Demonstrated technical leadership in the field of MEMS
  • Has served or is currently serving as associate or senior editor of J‐MEMS or another journal in the field of MEMS and solid‐state sensors and actuators.
  • Able to work at all levels: editorial boards, IEEE/EDS staff, volunteers, authors, reviewers and officers and show good judgment
  • Are a member of EDS or become a member
  • Other qualifications include leadership experience, integrity and ethical standards, organizational and management skills.

Requirements for Nominations:

  1. A brief biography (up to 150 words) of the nominator (self‐nomination is allowed)
  2. A brief IEEE‐style biography (up to 250 words) of the nominee
  3. A complete CV and list‐of‐publications of the nominee
  4. A statement (up to 500 words) from the nominee on his/her vision for the journal
  5. A brief statement from the nominator on nominee’s qualification and how the nominee meets the criteria listed above
  6. Endorsement from two EDS members to be included as part of the nomination packet

Please email the nomination files labeled 1 through 6, directly to Renuka Jindal, EDS Associate VP of Publications at r.jindal@ieee.org. Nominations received by May 1st, 2026, will receive full consideration.
