Co-Editor-in-Chief of Open Journal of the Industrial Electronics Society (OJIES)

Three-year term
Starting 1 January 2027

The IEEE Open Journal of the Industrial Electronics Society is a new, full open access journal with a wide scope that encloses the complete field of interest of the IES. For further information, please consult http://www.ieee-ies.org/pubs/ojies.

Specific Criteria for Nominees:

  • Leading expert in the field of Industrial Informatics, the candidate will be able to manage papers in the following fields of interest of OJIES:

– Robotics, Mechatronics and Motion Control
– Advanced sensing, signal processing and actuation
– Industrial applications of Automatic Control
– Factory and Building Automation
– Informatics and Communication
– Digitalization and Cyber-physical systems
– Human Factors in Industrial Eco-Systems
– Artificial Intelligence and Data Sciences

  • Prior experience with OJIES as an author, reviewer, and/or editor;
  • Capacity to manage a journal that receives around 600 submissions per year. The estimated minimum time requirement for this position is eight hours per week.

General Criteria for Nominees:

  • Demonstrated very high scientific reputation (very good publication records);
  • Extensive editorial experience as EiC, co-EiC, Senior Editor, Associate Editor or Guest Editor;
  • Be a member of IEEE and IES in good standing;
  • Other required qualifications include high ethical standards, leadership experience, and management skills.

Selection Process

The publications committee of the IES will carefully evaluate all nominees and select the best suitable candidate. All nominees will be considered without attention to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, or political affiliation. The appointment of the final candidate will be done by the President of the IES with approval of the society’s Administrative Committee.

Requirements for Nominations

  • Names of nominee and nominator (self-nominations are possible).
  • A brief IEEE-style biography of the nominee of no more than one page.
  • A summary statement of the nominee’s editorial experience.
  • Statement of interest of up to 500 words stating the nominee’s vision for the journal and special qualifications for the position.
  • The full CV of the nominee.
