The rapid growth of electric vehicles (EVs) is driving an accelerated transformation in transportation and energy infrastructures all around the world. As a result, fast charging technologies become a critical enabler for achieving widespread electrified mobility. Fast charging technologies support such transition through reducing charging times, improving user convenience, and enhancing transportation sustainability. However, the increasing penetration of high-power fast charging stations introduces significant technical challenges. These challenges are related to power conversion efficiency, grid integration, battery degradation, renewable energy utilization, and system reliability. Consequently, there is a growing demand for intelligent, efficient, and grid-interactive fast charging solutions. Recent advancements in wide-bandgap semiconductor devices, high-frequency power converters, digital control techniques, and energy management algorithms have significantly accelerated the development of next-generation fast EV charging infrastructures. Furthermore, the integration of renewable energy sources, battery energy storage systems, and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technologies enables the charging stations to evolve from passive loads into active and flexible energy assets within modern smart grids. Emerging technologies such as AI-driven charging management, digital twins, modular converter architectures, and megawatt charging systems are also opening new research directions. This special issue aims to present the latest research advances, emerging technologies, and practical innovations in integrated fast EV charging solutions for future intelligent transportation and smart energy systems. The issue seeks high-quality original contributions addressing converter topologies, charging infrastructures, renewable energy integration, advanced control techniques, health-aware charging strategies, and grid-interactive technologies. Particular emphasis will be placed on high-efficiency and high-power-density converter systems, intelligent energy management, reliability enhancement, and sustainable charging operation.
