The IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES) invites nominations for the positions of Editor-in-Chief and Co-Editor-in-Chief of the following journals:

Editor-in-Chief of TIE (Transactions on Industrial Electronics)

Three-year term starting 1 January 2025

The IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics is a flagship journal of the IES publishing papers with experimentally verified applications of electronics, controls, instrumentation, and computation for the enhancement of industrial systems and processes. Included are power electronics and electric motor drives, system control, signal processing, fault detection and diagnosis, power electronics in renewable energy and power systems, instrumentation, measurement and testing, modeling and simulation, motion control, applications in mechatronics and robotics, sensors and actuators, and applications of artificial intelligence in industrial electronic systems. Criteria for Nominees:

  • Demonstrated competence in at least one of the topical areas of TIE;
  • Demonstrated very high scientific reputation (very good publication records);
  • Extensive editorial experience as EiC, co-EiC, Senior Editor, Associate Editor or Guest Editor;
  • Prior experience with TIE as an author, reviewer, and/or editor;
  • Capacity to manage a journal that receives around 6000 submissions per year
  • Be a member of IEEE and IES in good standing;
  • Be an IEEE Fellow;
  • Other required qualifications include high ethical standards, leadership experience, and management skills.

 

Co-Editor-in-Chief of TII (Transactions on Industrial Informatics)

Two open positions, three-year term starting 1 January 2025

The IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics is a flagship journal of the IES, bridging the gap between theory and application practice of informatics in industrial environments. Its scope encompasses the use of information in intelligent, distributed, agile industrial automation and control systems. Included are knowledge-based and AI enhanced automation; intelligent computer control systems; flexible and collaborative manufacturing; industrial informatics aspects in software-defined vehicles and robotics, computer vision, industrial cyber-physical and industrial IoT systems; real-time and networked embedded systems; security in industrial processes; industrial communications; systems interoperability and human machine interaction. Specific Criteria for Nominees:

  • Demonstrated competence in at least one of the topical areas of TII;
  • Demonstrated very high scientific reputation (very good publication records);
  • Extensive editorial experience as EiC, co-EiC, Senior Editor, Associate Editor or Guest Editor;
  • Prior experience with TII as an author, reviewer, and/or editor;
  • Capacity to handle a minimum of 1000 papers per year;
  • Be a member of IEEE and IES in good standing;
  • Be an IEEE Fellow;
  • Other required qualifications include high ethical standards, leadership experience, and management skills.

 

Editor-in-Chief of IEM (Industrial Electronics Magazine)

Three-year term starting 1 January 2025

The IEEE Industrial Electronics Magazine publishes a wide range of articles including that present emerging trends and practices in industrial electronics product research and development, key insights, and tutorial surveys in the field of interest to the membership of the IES.   • Demonstrated competence in at least one of the topical areas of IES;
  • Demonstrated very high scientific reputation (very good publication records);
  • Demonstrated editorial experience as EiC, co-EiC, Senior Editor, Associate Editor or Guest Editor of a magazine or magazine-like publication;
  • Prior experience with IEM as an author, reviewer, and/or editor;
  • Capacity to handle a wide variety of contributions ranging from feature papers, industrial contributions, and society news to editorials and opinion papers;
  • Be a member of IEEE and IES in good standing;
  • Other required qualifications include high ethical standards, leadership experience, and management skills.

 

Selection Process

The publications committee of the IES will carefully evaluate all nominees and select the best suitable candidates. All nominees will be considered without attention to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, or political affiliation. The appointment of the final candidates will be done by the President of the IES with approval of the society’s Administrative Committee.

 

Requirements for Nominations (for all positions)

  • Names of nominee and nominator (self-nominations are possible).
  • A brief IEEE-style biography of the nominee of no more than one page.
  • A summary statement of the nominee’s editorial experience.
  • Statement of interest of up to 500 words stating the nominee’s vision for the journal and special qualifications for the position.
  • The full CV of the nominee.
