The IEEE Industrial Electronics Society Fellow Search Committee (FSC) plays a key role in searching the potential new IEEE Fellows from within the IES community. The FSC is distinct from the IEEE/IES Fellow Evaluation Committee (FEC): the two bodies are completely independent. While the FEC is responsible for evaluating nominations, the FSC’s mission is to promote, encourage, and advise qualified IES members who aspire to become IEEE Fellows in the future.

Fellow Search Committee main objectives

  • Identify and encourage promising candidates among Life Senior and Senior Members of IES;
  • Provide guidance and advice on effective nomination preparation;
  • Promote awareness of the IEEE Fellow elevation process within the IES community;
  • Support diversity in academic and industrial backgrounds, regions, and gender representation among potential candidates.

Led by Makoto Iwasaki – Chair, Hiroshi Fujimoto, Mo-Yuen Chow, Victor Huang, Roberto Oboe and Maria Valla, the Fellow Search Committee is composed of experienced members of the IES community. They represent both academia and industry and are deeply committed to mentoring future IEEE Fellows.

As part of its recent activities, the FSC organized an Advisory Forum and Panel Discussion during IECON 2025 in Madrid, where committee members shared valuable insights and best practices for successful Fellow nominations.

IEEE Fellow Nomination Schedule

The IEEE Fellow Nomination Portal will open in November 2025, accepting nominations for the IEEE Fellow Class of 2027.
