Volunteer Spirit and Regional Collaboration for a Connected Future
Date: 8–10 August 2025
Venue: Mayfair Lagoon, Bhubaneswar, India

The IEEE Industry Conclave on Emerging Technologies and Industry Automation (ETIA 2025), held from 8 to 10 August 2025 at the Mayfair Lagoon in Bhubaneswar, marked an important moment for the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES). Organized by the IEEE Bhubaneswar Section IES Chapter, this conclave united visionaries from academia, industry, and startups to explore the future of automation, artificial intelligence, and sustainable technologies.
Under the inspiring leadership of Prof. Milos Manic, President of IEEE IES, and with strong support from Prof. Akshay Rathore of the National University of Singapore, ETIA 2025 showcased the Society’s evolving model of “One IES”, a globally connected yet locally empowered community.
A Celebration of Volunteer Engagement

The success of ETIA 2025 stands as a testament to the dedication and teamwork of countless volunteers and organizers.
The event was expertly coordinated by Dr. Ranjeeta Patel, IEEE IES Membership Development Standing Committee Member and Dean at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), together with Prof. Chinmoy Kumar Panigrahi, Vice Chair of the IEEE IES Bhubaneswar Section.
Prof. Subhransu Ranjan Samantaray – Chair, IEEE Bhubaneswar Section and other Executive Committee Members of IEEE Bhubaneswar Section also contributed a lot to make the event successful.

From organizing sessions to welcoming participants and managing logistics, the volunteer spirit was the heart of the conclave. Special appreciation goes to the student volunteers, Ravindu Athapaththu, Pradosh Kumar Mishra, Sharmishta Nandi, Asit Kumar Sahoo, Rishiranjan Tripathy, Dibyendu Ganguly, Priyadarshini Lodh, and Ramsha Helal, whose energy and commitment transformed the event into a truly collaborative celebration of innovation.
Their contribution perfectly represents the IES philosophy: growth measured not only in numbers, but in impact, continuity, and shared purpose.
Connecting Academia and Industry: Regional Collaboration in Action

The conclave witnessed the participation of more than 70 organizations, including startups, companies, industries, research centres and Academic institutions.
ETIA 2025 became a powerful demonstration of how regional collaboration can bridge academia and industry.

Across three dynamic days, the conclave featured:
-
1 keynote address by Prof. Milos Manic on “Reactive to Predictive: Cybersecurity Powered by Digital Twins”,
-
8 technical talks,
-
8 high-level panel discussions on themes such as AI and Quantum Technologies, Smart Cities, Human-Centric Manufacturing (Industry 5.0), and Sustainable Innovation.
These sessions not only advanced technical dialogue but also created fertile ground for joint projects, internships, and technology transfer opportunities, connecting innovation ecosystems within India and across borders.
Empowering Local Chapters, Strengthening the Global IES Network
ETIA 2025 illustrated how local IEEE chapters can amplify global IES initiatives by adapting them to regional needs. Through the active involvement of universities like KIIT Bhubaneswar and the engagement of local industry leaders, the conclave brought the global IES vision directly to the regional level, promoting leadership, inspiring young professionals, and expanding the Society’s reach in meaningful ways.
This event also reflected how IES is transforming into a globally connected yet locally empowered community, aligning with the Hubs & Nodes framework that encourages innovation while maintaining strong ties to the international network of members, chapters, and societies.
Looking Ahead
The IEEE Industrial Electronics Society celebrates ETIA 2025 not only as a successful technical conclave, but as a model of what community-driven engineering can achieve. It highlighted the potential of local chapters, the value of cross-sector partnerships, and the transformative power of volunteer engagement.
As IES continues to evolve, initiatives like ETIA 2025 reaffirm the Society’s commitment to building a future where academic excellence, industrial collaboration, and volunteer passion converge — ensuring that progress is shared, sustainable, and human-centered.
