IES Membership Promotion and Engagement at IECON and IROS 2025

Many events were organized in October 2025 by our membership development team; firstly at the IECON conference in Madrid, Spain, then at the IES sponsored conference – IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS) in Hangzhou, China.

Events at the Annual Conference of Industrial Electronics Society – IECON 2025

At the IES flagship conference – the Annual Conference of Industrial Electronics Society (IECON 2025) in Madrid, Spain, numerous events for our members have been carried out by our excellent and dedicated volunteers in the IES Membership Activities (MA) team (Fig.1). All events were very well attended.
As in Fig.2, we had our IES booth which provided a channel for attendees who were interested in knowing more about our society.
On 15 October, “Meet the IES Technical Committees” event was organized by the New Initiatives committee led by Dr. Marina Indri (Fig.3); “Welcome Newbies” event was organized by the Collaboration and Engagement committee led by Dr. Lucia Lo-Bello (Fig.4), “Women-in-IES Luncheon” organized by the Women-in-IES committee led by Dr. Jing Zhou (Fig.5).





On 16 October, a half-day global “Chapters Chairs Meeting” was organized by Chapters and Joint Chapters Program committee led by Dr. Hani Vahedi (Fig.6); and a full day event “SYP Forum” (Fig.7) was organized by our Student Activities Committee led by Ala Chalghaf and Young Professional Committee led by Dr. Chathurika W. Brahmana.
We would like to thank the ExCom and AdCom teams, led by our President Dr. Milos Manic, for all strong support and attending the events at IECON 2025; as well as the IECON conference general chairs Dr. Juan Rodriguez-Andina and Dr. Antonio Luque, for their unwavering support for help in arranging all MA activities at IECON 2025.



Events at the IES sponsored conference – IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS)

Right after IECON, from 19 to 25 October, our IES team has organized several events at the IES sponsored conference – IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS) in Hangzhou, China.
As in Fig.8, we have our IES booth with many attendees dropped by with questions and discussions.
Warm thanks to all volunteers who helped in managing the booth! Our IES leadership team led by President Elect – Dr. Juan Rodriguez-Andina, VP Conference – Dr. Luis Gomes, and VP Membership Activities – Dr. Ya-Jun Pan organized a session for IES members and SYPA awardees (74 recipients for IROS 2025).
As in Fig.9, Dr. Ya-Jun Pan introduced the IES Membership data, initiatives, activities and opportunities for IES members to participate and contribute. There were two conference keynote talks, one delivered by Dr. Ya-Jun Pan in the Human-Robot Interaction keynote session as in Fig.10, and one by Dr. Mihoko Niitsuma at the Women in Robotics Luncheon as in Fig.11. There were several workshops and special sessions organized by IES members.
As in Fig.12, Dr. Yang Shi who is currently the Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics organized a special session: Editor-in-Chief Forum – Publications of Advanced Research on Robotics, Mechatronics, and Industrial Electronics in the Era of AI.
