Kamal Al-Haddad represented the IES at the 2026 IEEE Laureate Forum & Honors Ceremony

As Chair of the 2026 IEEE Awards Board – Medals Council, Kamal Al-Haddad, long term volunteer and former IES President (2016-2017), represented the Industrial Electronics Society at the 2026 IEEE Laureate Forum & Honors Ceremony on 22-24 April 2026 in New York City.

The 2026 IEEE Laureate Forum & Honors Ceremony celebrating innovation and excellence in engineering and technology, is sponsored by IES.
The IEEE Laureate Forum brings together emerging innovators, distinguished award recipients, and global leaders for conversations on the future of technology and talent.

The celebration culminates with the IEEE Honors Ceremony, a program of distinct presentations, where IEEE’s highest-level awards are presented to global leaders and innovators, including the prestigious IEEE Medal of Honor.

During the ceremony, two eminent members of IES were celebrated. Toshio Fukuda received the IEEE Richard M. Emberson Award and Fang Zheng Peng received the 2026 IEEE Medal in Power Engineering.
Jensen Huang, the CEO of NVIDIA, has been awarded the 2026 IEEE Medal of Honor for his visionary leadership and pioneering work in accelerated computing. This prestigious award, which includes a $2 million prize, recognizes Huang’s contributions to technology and engineering, particularly in the development of graphics processing units (GPUs) and their application to scientific computing and artificial intelligence.
