On 15 October 2025, during IECON Madrid, a “Welcome Newbies” session was organized by Prof. Lucia Lo Bello and the IES Collaboration and Engagement SubCommittee, which includes Prof. Leila Parsa, Prof. Fei Gao, Prof. Yajun Pan, Mrs. Regina Roos, Dr. Chathurika S. Wickramasinghe, Prof. Afroditi Philippas, Prof. Jing Zhou, together with Prof. Morgan Kiani and Prof. Yousef Ibrahim.

The Session was dedicated to those who were attending IECON for the first time, to offer them:

  • Technical Exposure & Networking with experts, giving them a chance for introducing themselves and their research interests regardless of their career stage, age or affiliation, and for mingling with experts.
  • Opportunity to meet the IES AdCom members, IES officers, such as, the IES President Prof. Milos Manic, the IES President-Elect Prof. Juan José Rodríguez-Andina, the Vice President, Member and Geographic Activities Prof. Antonio Luque, the IES Officers and several AdCom members.
  • Knowledge about IES and the multiple initiatives that IES offers to members

During the session, the very numerous attendees have learnt about the advantages that IES can offer to them to develop their career. They mingled with other attendees, with IES members, and participated in joint activities in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Finally, all the attendees enjoyed a dedicated welcome reception with drinks and food.
