Abstract:
Cloud and AI are no longer on the horizon for most enterprises, they’re already running or trying in production, for better or worse. This session looks at how organizations are actually adopting these technologies today: what’s working, where implementations get stuck, and what the more successful deployments have in common.
The examples come from real projects across defense contracting, food manufacturing, and consumer goods: not from slide decks. We’ll cover intelligent automation, ERP cloud migration patterns, and early applications of agentic AI in enterprise settings.
We’ll also spend some time on what’s coming. The ERP modernization wave tied to SAP’s 2027–2030 end-of-maintenance deadlines is one of the larger forced-migration events in enterprise IT history, and AI is already changing how that work gets done. This session is planned as the first in a series on cloud architecture, digital transformation, and applied AI in enterprise environments.
Presenter’s bio:
Sebastiano Marchesini is a Solution Architect focused on SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), S/4HANA cloud migration, and AI-driven enterprise automation. He is an SAP Champion, fewer than 80 people hold this title worldwide, and an IEEE Senior Member. He wrote Migrating from Neo to Cloud Foundry for SAP BTP (SAP PRESS, 2024), teaches on the SAP Learning Hub, and has spoken at SAP TechEd and other international conferences. He is based in New York City, where he runs the NYC SAP Technology Meetup.
