Dr.-Ing. Eugene Mittelmann Achievement Award
Recipient: Dong Yue
University at Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunication
Citation: For Contributions to Network-Based Control and Optimization of Cyber-Physical Energy and Power Systems.
Dong Yue (Fellow, IEEE) received the Ph.D degree in control theory and control engineering from the South China University of Technology, Guangzhou, China, in 1995. He is currently a Professor and the Dean of the Institute of Advanced Technology, and Director of Academic Committee of the University at Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunication.
He is a Fellow of IEEE for his contribution to network-based control and its applications to power systems, a Foreign Full Member of the Russian Academy of Engineering, and a Fellow of both Chinese Association of Artificial Intelligence and Chinese Association of Automation. He was a Changjiang Professor with the Department of Control Science and Engineering, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, from 2010 to 2013.
Currently, he is the Co-Editor-in-Chief for IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics and the Associate Editor for IEEE Industrial Electronics Magazine, IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics: Systems and Journal of the Franklin Institute. He also served as the Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics from 2018 to 2022, IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems from 2015 to 2018. Up to now, he has authored and co-authored more than 500 papers in prestigious international journals and 5 books in Chinese Science Press and Springer. He holds more than 100 patents. He was the recipient of the IEEE Rudolf Chope Research & Development Award in 2022, Norbert Wiener Review Award by IEEE/CAA Journal of Automatica Sinica in 2020, the best paper award of IEEE Systems Journal in 2022 and the Outstanding Paper Award of IEEE Transactions Smart Grid in 2022. He was also recipient of several prestigious awards granted by Chinese government. His current research interests include networked control, optimization, multiagent systems, and smart grid.
IEEE Bimal Bose Award for Industrial Electronics Applications in Energy Systems
Recipient: Pedro Rodriguez

Citation: For Advanced Operation and Control of Grid-Connected Power Converters for Renewable Energy Integration.
Pedro Rodriguez (IEEE Fellow) received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC), Spain. He carried out postdoctoral research at the Center for Power Electronics Systems, Virginia Tech, USA; the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; the Department of Energy Technology, Aalborg University, Denmark; and the MIT Energy Initiative, USA.
Professor Rodriguez has extensive industrial experience, including serving as Director of Technology for Modern Power Systems at Abengoa Research, Spain. He was also co-supervisor of the Vestas Power Program in Denmark. He later moved into research leadership, where he was Director of Loyola.Tech at Loyola University in Spain, and is currently Head of the Intelligent Clean Energy Systems (ICES) research unit at the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), Luxembourg. He also holds academic appointments as part-time Professor at UPC, Affiliate Professor at the University of Luxembourg, and Visiting Professor at Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden.
He co-authored a Wiley-IEEE book on power electronics for renewable integration that is highly cited in the field, as well as a large number of highly cited journal articles. He has been included several times in the Clarivate list of Highly Cited Researchers in Engineering, and his pioneering contributions include foundational synchronization techniques, grid-forming technologies, and synchronous power controllers, which have influenced both academic research and industrial practice. He holds 18 patents, many of them licensed and transferred into industrial applications.
Professor Rodriguez is an IEEE Fellow and Distinguished Lecturer. His achievements have been recognized with numerous national and international awards, highlighting here the 2020 IEEE PELS Sustainable Energy Systems Technical Achievement Award and an Honorary Doctorate from Aalborg University, Denmark, for his academic and industrial leadership. He currently serves as Chair of the European Technology and Innovation Platform – Smart Networks for Energy Transition (ETIP-SNET) Working Group on Storage Technologies and System Flexibilities, Chair of the IEEE PELS Technical Committee on Sustainable Energy Systems, and has previously chaired the IEEE Benelux Joint Chapter of Power Engineering, Industrial Applications, and Power Electronics Societies. His research interests focus on intelligent energy systems, distributed inverter-based resources, energy storage, and universal energy access.
IEEE J. David Irwin Early Career Award
Recipient: Qianwen Xu

Citation: For Outstanding Contributions of Advanced Control and AI Solutions in Power Electronic Dominated Grids for Enhanced Stability and Security.
Qianwen Xu (Senior Member, IEEE) received PhD degree in electrical engineering from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in 2018. Then she worked as postdoc research fellow in Aalborg University in Denmark, a visiting researcher with Imperial College London in UK, and a Wallenberg-NTU Presidential Postdoc Fellow in Nanyang Technological University in Singapore in 2018-2020. From 2020 to 2024, she was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at KTH Royal Institute of Technology. Since 2024, she has been a tenured Associate Professor at KTH Royal Institute of Technology. She is the director of Intelligent Sustainable Grid Lab (ISG @ KTH) from 2020, and co-director of Dig-it Lab from 2024.
Her research interests include advanced control, optimization and artificial intelligence applications of power converter dominated grids and microgrids. She has published over 100 peer-reviewed research papers including 55 top IEEE transactions papers (15 first authored IEEE transactions papers) and 2 book chapters. She has secured more than 18 research grants from esteemed sources, such as Swedish Research Council (incl. VR Starting Grant), Swedish Energy Agency, Sweden’s Innovation Agency, Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program (WASP), Swedish Transport Administration, EU Horizon, EU Horizon MSCA DN, Clean Energy Transition Partnership, Urban Europe, C3.ai Digital Transformation Institute, Digital Futures, STINT, StandUP for Energy, etc, with the collaboration of leading companies like Vattenfall, E.ON, Svenska kraftnat, Hitachi Energy, ABB, Scania, SNCF, etc. She is Chair of IEEE Power and Energy Society & Power Electronics Society, Sweden since 2025, and Vice Chair of IEEE Power Electronics Society Technical Committee (TC) 12- Energy Access and Off-Grid Systems since 2024. She is an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Energy, IEEE Transactions on Transportation Electrification and IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Power Electronics. She served as Organization committee and WiE Chair for IECON 2023, 2020, and ECCE 2022-2025, and as Organization committee, TPC chair, special sessions chair and topic chair for multiple top and flagship conferences. She is recipient of Humboldt Research Fellowship, Excellent Doctorate Research Work in Nanyang Technological University in 2018, Best paper award in IEEE PEDG 2020, etc. She is the first place winner of Nordic Energy Challenge Award 2022. Her research work “Smart microgrid for sustainable communities” and “Safe AI for enhanced sustainable energy systems” are selected by Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) 100 list, 2023 and 2024 respectively, as one of the most promising activities in Sweden in terms of societal impact and commercialization.
