Zhiwei Gao

Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Transactions on Industrial Informatics for a three-year term (2024-2026)  

Zhiwei Gao (Fellow IEEE) received BEng in Industrial Automation, MEng and PhD degrees in Systems Engineering all from Tianjin University, respectively in 1987, 1993 and 1996. His research interests include augmented observer techniques, fault diagnosis, fault tolerant control, data driven approaches, machine learning, artificial intelligence, digital twins, biometrics, and their applications in wind turbines, power electronics, electric vehicles, and offshore energy systems. He was the recipient of the Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship in 2004. He was elevated to the IEEE Fellow Class due to the contribution to real-time diagnosis and control for wind turbines in 2023, and he was also elected as the AAIA Fellow in 2023. He is the Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, IEEE Transactions on Systems Man and Cybernetics: Systems, and Senior Editor of IEEE Access. As the leading Guest Editor, he has organized over 10 special issues respectively in IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics, Renewable Energy (Elsevier), and so forth. He was the Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology and IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control. He is the incoming Co-Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics.

 

Honghai Liu

Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Transactions on Industrial Informatics for a three-year term (2024-2026)  

Honghai Liu (Fellow, IEEE) received the Ph.D. degree in intelligent robotics from Kings College London, London, U.K., in 2003. He is a Professor with the Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), Shenzhen, China. He is also a Professor of human machine systems with the University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth, U.K. His research interests include intelligent sensing and understanding, machine learning, intelligent robotics, and their applications with an emphasis on approaches that could make contribution to the intelligent connection of perception to action using contextual information. Prof. Liu is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology. He is an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics.

 

Shen Yin

Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Transactions on Industrial Informatics for a three-year term (2024-2026)  

Shen Yin (Fellow, IEEE) holds an M.Sc. in control and information systems and a Ph.D. (Dr.-Ing.) in electrical engineering and information technology from the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany. He is currently a DNV Endowed Full Professor at the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Norway. With research interests encompassing Fault diagnosis/prognosis and fault tolerance, Reliability, safety, and security, Data-driven monitoring and optimization, System and control theory, and Applications in health diagnosis and cyber-physical systems, he is actively engaged in advancing the field of industrial engineering. In addition to his academic roles, he also holds editorial positions, including Co-Editor-in Chief of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Discover Artificial Intelligence (Springer Nature), and serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics, IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems, and IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Industrial Electronics. He has also been entrusted with the responsibility of Technical Program Chair for IEEE IES flagship conferences, such as IEEE ISIE 2014, IEEE IECON 2017 and IEEE ONCON2023. He has served as a Track Chair for various IES conferences. He has been recognized for his contributions to the field, having received the NAMUR Award for “Process Automation” in 2012, the Best Paper Award from the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics in 2015, and the China Youth Science and Technology Award in 2020, among other accolades. Notably, he has been consecutively listed as a Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate from 2016 to 2022.

 

Vinod Khadkikar

Co-Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics for a three-year term (2024-2026)

Vinod Khadkikar (IEEE Fellow) received M. Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology (IITD), New Delhi, India, in 2002 and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Ecole de Technologie Superieure (E.T.S.), Montreal, QC, Canada, in 2008. From December 2008 to March 2010, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Western Ontario, London, ON, Canada. From April 2010 to December 2010, he was a Visiting Professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, MA, USA. Currently he is a Professor in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department at Khalifa University (formerly as Masdar Institute) Abu Dhabi, UAE. His research interests include applications of power electronics in distribution systems and renewable energy resources, grid interconnection issues, power quality enhancement, active power filters and electric vehicles. Dr. Khadkikar is a Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Industry Applications Society.

 

Juan Rodriguez-Andina

Co-Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics for a three-year term (2024-2026)

Juan J. Rodriguez-Andina received the M.Sc. degree from the Technical University of Madrid, Spain, in 1990, and the Ph.D. from University of Vigo, Spain, in 1996, both in electrical engineering. Since 1992 he has been with the Department of Electronic Technology, University of Vigo. In 2010-2011, he was on sabbatical leave as a Visiting Professor at the Advanced Diagnosis, Automation, and Control Laboratory, North Carolina State University, Raleigh. From 2015 to 2017 he delivered summer courses at Harbin Institute of Technology. He has authored over 170 journal and conference articles, and holds several Spanish, European, and US patents. His current research interests include the implementation of complex control and processing algorithms and intelligent sensors in embedded platforms. He is co-author of the article awarded the 2017 IEEE Industrial Electronics Magazine Best Paper Award. He received the 2020 Anthony J. Hornfeck Service Award from the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES). From 2016 to 2021 he was IES vice president for Conference Activities. He served as Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Magazine (2013-2015) and as Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics (2008-2018). He is currently serving as Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics and the IEEE Open Journal of the Industrial Electronics Society.

 

Changyun Wen

Co-Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics for a second three-year term (2024-2026)

Changyun Wen received the B.Eng. degree from Xi’an Jiaotong University, China, in 1983 and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Newcastle, Australia in 1990. From August 1989 to August 1991, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at University of Adelaide, Australia. Since August 1991, he has been with Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, where he is a Full Professor. His main research activities are in the areas of control systems and applications, cyber-physical systems, smart grids, complex systems and networks. As recognition of the scientific impact of his publications in these areas, he was listed as a Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate for the years of 2020,2021 and 2022. Prof Wen is a Fellow of IEEE and Fellow of the Academy of Engineering, Singapore. He was a member of IEEE Fellow Committee from January 2011 to December 2013 and a Distinguished Lecturer of IEEE Control Systems Society from 2010 to 2013. Currently he is the co-Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, Associate Editor of Automatica (from Feb 2006) and Executive Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Control and Decision. He also served as an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control from 2000 to 2002, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics from 2013 to 2020 and IEEE Control Systems Magazine from 2009 to2019. He has been actively involved in organizing international conferences playing the roles of General Chair (including the General Chair of IECON 2020 and IECON 2023), TPC Chair (e.g. the TPC Chair of Chinese Control and Decision Conference since 2008), etc. He was the recipient of a number of awards, including the Prestigious Engineering Achievement Award from the Institution of Engineers, Singapore in 2005, and the Best Paper Award of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics in 2017.

 

Armando Walter Colombo

Co-Editor-in-Chief of for IEEE Open Journal of the Industrial Electronics Society for a second three-year term (2024-2026)

Armando Walter Colombo (Fellow IEEE) joined the Department of Electrotechnical and Computer Sciences at the University of Applied Sciences Emden/Leer, Germany, became Full Professor in August 2010 and Director of the Institute for Industrial Informatics, Automation and Robotics (I2AR) in 2012. He worked from 2001 until 2018 as Manager for Collaborative Innovation Programs and also as Edison Level 2 Group Senior Expert at Schneider Electric Corp. Prof. Colombo received the BSc on Electronics Engineering from the National Technological University of Mendoza, Argentina, in 1990, the MSc on Control System Engineering from the National University of San Juan, Argentina, in 1994, and the Doctor degree in Engineering (Manufacturing Automation and Systematization) from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany, in 1998. His research interests are in the fields of Industrial Informatics, Industrial Cyber-Physical Systems, Industrial Digitalization, Engineering of Industry 4.0-compliant Solutions, System-of-Systems Engineering, Industrial Internet-of-Things, Intelligent Production Automation Systems. Prof. Colombo has over 30 industrial patents and more than 300 per-review publications (https://scholar.google.de/citations?user=FgFDTMEAAAAJ&hl=en; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-1431-7589). With his contributions, he has performed scientific and technical seminal contributions that are nowadays being used as one of the bases of what is recognized as “The 4th Industrial Revolution”. He is currently Co-editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Open Access Journal of the Industrial Electronics Society (OJIES),  Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Systems Council, and Associated Editor of the IEEE Transaction on ICPS. Prof. Colombo is a member of the IEEE Administrative Committee of the Industrial Electronics Society (IES), as well as a member of the IEEE European Public Committee. He is working as Expert in the KDT-JU ECSEL, as well as in the Research Executive Agency (REA) of the European Union and the EUREKA programs. Prof. Colombo is listed in Who’s Who in the World/Engineering 99-00/01 and in Outstanding People of the XX Century (Bibliographic Centre Cambridge, UK).
