Three IES Distinguished Lecturers Approved for IEEE Women in Engineering Virtual Distinguished Lecturer Program
By Ya-Jun Pan – Chair of the Women-in-IES Committee
In 2023, IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) called for submission of current/past Distinguished Lecturers (DLs) from each society to have a list of IEEE WIE Virtual DLs. Dr. Ya-Jun Pan who is the chair of IES Distinguished Lecturer Program and the Coordinator for Women in IES sent this call for submission to all current/recent DLs in IES. There were three volunteers from the call, and they are Dr. Okyay Kaynak, Dr. Gérard-André Capolino, and Dr. Leopoldo Franquelo recommended from IES for IEEE WIE.

The IEEE WIE Virtual DL Program including the list of Virtual DLs is now posted on the IEEE WIE website so that IEEE WIE Affinity Groups may invite DLs to their events in 2024, such as meetings, seminars and panel discussions.
As proposed by IEEE WIE, “The mission of the IEEE Women in Engineering Distinguished Lecturers Program (virtual) is to help enhance the professional knowledge and vitality of IEEE Women in Engineering members by apprising them of the latest industry trends, research results, and their practical applications. The Distinguished Lecturers Program highlights IEEE WIE’s partnership with the Societies/Council Program.”
