Call for Nominations for Open Editor Position – Deadline 25 April 2025
The IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES) invites nominations for several positions of Editors-in-Chief and Co-Editors-in-Chief (see below details about open positions and requirements).
Nominations should be submitted through this form no later than 25 April 2025.

Editor-in-Chief of TII (Transactions on Industrial Informatics)
Three-year term starting 1 January 2026
The IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics is a flagship journal of the IES, bridging the gap between theory and application practice of informatics in industrial environments. For further information, please consult https://www.ieee-ies.org/pubs/transactions-on-industrial-informatics.
Specific Criteria for Nominees:
- Demonstrated competence in at least one of the topical areas of TII;
- Prior experience with TII as an author, reviewer, and/or editor;
- Capacity to manage a journal that receives around 7000 submissions per year. The estimated minimum time requirement for this position is 18 hours per week.
Editor-in-Chief of TICPS (Transactions on Industrial Cyber-Physical Systems)
Three-year term starting 1 January 2026
Cyber-Physical Systems are the engineered systems that are built from, and depend upon, the seamless integration of computation and physical components. The IEEE Transactions on Industrial Cyber-Physical Systems publishes original papers related to a broad scope associated with the industrial cyber-physical systems (ICPS) knowledge domain. Specific Criteria for Nominees:
- Be active in the industry;
- Demonstrated competence in the area of “Industrial Cyber-Physical Systems“;
- Prior experience with IES Publications as an author, reviewer, and/or editor;
- Capacity to handle a minimum of 600 submissions per year. The minimum time requirement for this position is 15 hours per week.
Editor-in-Chief of OJIES (Open Journal of the Industrial Electronics Society)
Three-year term starting 1 January 2026
The IEEE Open Journal of the Industrial Electronics Society is a new, full open access journal with a wide scope that encloses the complete field of interest of the IES. For further information, please consult http://www.ieee-ies.org/pubs/ojies.
Specific Criteria for Nominees:
- Demonstrated competence in at least one of the topical areas of OJIES;
- Prior experience with OJIES as an author, reviewer, and/or editor;
- Capacity to manage a journal that receives around 500 submissions per year. The estimated minimum time requirement for this position is six hours per week.
Editor-in-Chief of JESTIE (Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Industrial Electronics)
Three-year term starting 1 January 2026
The IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Industrial Electronics is a newly established journal publishing papers on emerging topics and new trends in the field of the IES. For further information, please consult http://www.ieee-ies.org/pubs/jestie.
Specific Criteria for Nominees:
- Demonstrated competence in at least one of the topical areas of JESTIE;
- Prior experience with JESTIE as an author, reviewer, and/or editor;
- Capacity to manage a journal that receives around 400 submissions per year. The estimated minimum time requirement for this position is five hours per week.
Co-Editor-in-Chief of TIE (Transactions on Industrial Electronics)
Three open positions for different areas, three-year term starting 1 January 2026
The IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics is a flagship journal of the IES publishing papers with experimentally verified applications of electronics, controls, instrumentation, and computation for the enhancement of industrial systems and processes. Specific Criteria for Nominees, Position 1:
- Demonstrated competence in the area of ‘machines and drives’, with further experience and ability to handle papers in one or more of the following areas: ‘multi-phase systems’, ‘renewable energy systems’, and ‘single-phase electronics’.
- Prior experience with TIE as an author, reviewer, and/or editor;
- Capacity to handle a minimum of 1000 submissions per year. The estimated minimum time requirement for this position is eight hours per week.
Specific Criteria for Nominees, Position 2:
- Demonstrated competence in at least one of the areas of ‘control and signal processing’, ‘diagnosis and monitoring’ and ‘robotics and mechatronics’ with further experience and ability to handle papers in the area of ‘embedded systems’.
- Prior experience with TIE as an author, reviewer, and/or editor;
- Capacity to handle a minimum of 1000 submissions per year. The estimated minimum time requirement for this position is eight hours per week.
Specific Criteria for Nominees, Position 3:
- Demonstrated competence in the area of ‘instrumentation and sensors’, with further experience and ability to handle papers in one or more of the following areas: ‘robotics and mechatronics’, ‘actuators and motors’, and ‘diagnosis and monitoring’.
- Prior experience with TIE as an author, reviewer, and/or editor;
- Capacity to handle a minimum of 1000 submissions per year. The estimated minimum time requirement for this position is eight hours per week.
Co-Editor-in-Chief of TII (Transactions on Industrial Informatics)

- Demonstrated competence in at least one of the topical areas of TII;
- Prior experience with TII as an author, reviewer, and/or editor;
- Capacity to handle a minimum of 1000 submissions per year. The estimated minimum time requirement for this position is eight hours per week.
General Criteria for Nominees (for all positions):
- Demonstrated very high scientific reputation (very good publication records);
- Extensive editorial experience as EiC, co-EiC, Senior Editor, Associate Editor or Guest Editor;
- Be a member of IEEE and IES in good standing;
- Other required qualifications include high ethical standards, leadership experience, and management skills.
Selection Process
The publications committee of the IES will carefully evaluate all nominees and select the best suitable candidate. All nominees will be considered without attention to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, or political affiliation. The appointment of the final candidate will be done by the President of the IES with approval of the society’s Administrative Committee.
Requirements for Nominations
- Names of nominee and nominator (self-nominations are possible).
- A brief IEEE-style biography of the nominee of no more than one page.
- A summary statement of the nominee’s editorial experience.
- Statement of interest of up to 500 words stating the nominee’s vision for the journal and special qualifications for the position.
- The full CV of the nominee.
