STEM education outreach program was successfully conducted on 27 August 2024 at NSS School Akathethara in Kerala, India, by IEEE IES SBC NSSCE.

The initiative aimed to enhance student’s knowledge and skills in essential areas of STEM, focusing on coding and advanced MS Office tools, which are crucial for academic and professional growth. The Objectives of this program is to introduce students to the basics of coding in Python and C programming. Also to provide hands-on training on advanced MS Office skills, enhancing their ability to manage and present information effectively.

The program was structured into two main sessions:

Session 1: Basics of Coding

  • Covered fundamental concepts of coding in Python and C programming languages.
  • Introduced basic syntax, data types, control structures, and simple algorithms.
  • Provided practical coding exercises to reinforce learning.

Session 2: Advanced MS Office Skills

  • Focused on advanced features of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated techniques for creating complex documents, managing data using Excel functions, and designing impactful presentations.
  • Offered hands-on practice to ensure students could apply these skills independently.

The event saw active participation from students, who were eager to learn and engage with the material presented. The interactive sessions allowed students to ask questions, work on practical examples, and receive real-time feedback from the instructors.
Students gained a better understanding of coding fundamentals and advanced MS Office tools, equipping them with skills relevant for both academic and future career purposes.
Hands-on sessions enabled students to apply what they learned, leading to improved confidence in using technology for problem-solving and data management. The program successfully sparked interest among students in pursuing further studies and potential careers in STEM fields.

Feedback from both students and teachers was overwhelmingly positive. Participants appreciated the practical approach of the sessions and expressed a desire for more such workshops in the future. The STEM education program at NSS School Akathethara was a resounding success, achieving its goals of knowledge dissemination and skill development. IEEE IES SBC NSSCE remains committed to continuing such initiatives, contributing to the educational empowerment of students in the region.
