Abstract:
PMBLDC motors are new workhorses and have successfully replaced conventional DC and Induction motors from portable power tools and home appliances and are readily used in robotics and drones. These motors have best-in-class torque-to-weight ratios, and efficient controllers can be designed for various use case scenarios. The high availability of off-the-shelf BLDC motors in low to medium voltage and power ratings has enabled them to be employed in many battery-operated tools and appliances. However, designing a motor controller hardware involves many challenges like selecting switches, controllers, and sensors. Moreover, the proper layout of analog, digital, and power signals on a single hardware board poses a unique challenge and requires a non-trivial PCB design.
The proposed webinar lays a guideline for making such single-board BLDC motor controllers with the following points:
1- BLDC motor basics.
2- BLDC motor controllers.
3- BLDC controller design requirements.
4- Component selection.
5- PCB Layout considerations.
