The Industrial Electronics Society is pleased to announce that IES Former President and long-term member/volunteer of the IES community, Professor Kamal Al-Haddad has been appointed Chair of the 2026 IEEE Awards Board – Medals Council. Kamal will be leading this prestigious IEEE Council which is deciding on 19 IEEE Medals, including the eminent Medal of Honor.

Prof. Al-Haddad’s world-class career includes pioneering contributions to the field of power electronics that have greatly advanced the technology through applications in a wide range of areas, including traction, power quality, lighting, induction heating, and telecommunications. He has consistently delivered high quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness in the creation of commercially viable power solutions for the benefit of everyday society.
His research innovations have had far-reaching impact, as evidenced by over 38,000 citations of his published work, underscoring his influence in the academic and engineering communities.
